Frank McCarthy, General Manager of Sheehy Ford of Springfield, with Colonel John D. Folsom, USMCR (retired), founder of the charity.

SPRINGFIELD, VA - On Friday, July 1, at 5 p.m. the 2nd Annual Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour will make a stop at Sheehy Ford in Springfield, located at 6727 Loisdale Road our nation's capital.  Mustang aficionados and the general public are invited to the FREE event at the dealership where they can shake hands with Colonel John D. Folsom, USMCR (retired), founder of the charity, and for a $5 donation, sign the 2011 Shelby Ford Mustang GT500 wrapped in red, white and blue that Folsom will be driving cross-country.

"We are looking forward to our stop nearby Washington, D.C. for this unique street-level engagement with the American people," said Colonel Folsom, who will be joined by a team of videographers chronicling his 21,000 mile air and road expedition.  "We invite everyone to be a part of this tour and show their support with a signature on the star-spangled Mustang."

For four weeks, Colonel Folsom will be traveling from coast to coast raising awareness and support for our wounded warriors.  Tour stops consist of visits to each state capital city with the opportunity for those in each area to sign the Shelby Mustang, meet Colonel Folsom and donate to the Wounded Warriors Family Support organization.  The car will be donated at an auction in January 2012 with proceeds benefiting the charity.

The mission of the Wounded Warriors Family Support is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. The families of our casualties suffer in many ways: some financially, some psychologically.  Wounded Warriors Family Support helps to mitigate their trauma by allowing them to find peace and solace as a family once more in family-friendly resorts that are provided free of charge.  The resort condominiums in Orlando, Florida, owned by the organization, are quiet havens where war torn families can reunite and become stronger.
